What is this book about?
John gives us in equal parts an abbreviated and expanded testimony of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, for the purpose of establishing faith in his readers.
How does it point to Jesus?
Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, the Word made flesh, the only-begotten Son of the God, has come in obedience to the Father, to glorify the name of the Father, and in turn to be glorified by the Father on the cross, whence comes the end of all our sorrows.
