Servants and Masters
Colossians 3:22-4:1
July 9, 2017

FRAMING IT UP
In remembering the sermon, answer these questions:

How was the Bondservant of Paul’s day different from the slave of 19th Century America?
Why didn’t Paul (or Jesus) focus on social reform, and dismantling social institutions like slavery?
How does Paul’s teaching here, and in the book of Philemon, provide a picture of the Gospel?

FILLING IT IN
Take some time to meditate on the same truth in these verses:

Ephesians 5:6-9; 1 Corinthians 7:21-24; Philemon

WORKING OUT YOUR SALVATION
As God's Word exposes my heart, what does this mean for my life?

In what ways do we fall short of manifesting the New Life/New Creation in Christ Jesus:
In relationship to people in authority over you?
In relationship to people subordinate to you?
Does your life imitate Paul’s prioritization of the Gospel over:
     Social justice?
     Political causes?
     Earthly circumstances?
     Personal afflictions and injustices?
