We Magnify

At TBC, we understand that God is at the center, and not us (or anyone, or anything else…)

So, worship is at the core and heart of everything that we are, and all that we do as a church. If our lives are a wheel, with all of our daily occupations, activities, relationships, and ministries as the spokes, then weekly worship is the central hub from which they all emanate, and by which they are all supported.

We exist to magnify, exalt, and glorify the Triune God, and to heed His summons to draw near to His Throne of Grace each and every week on the Lord’s Day. In doing this, we strive to give to Him a worship that is acceptable to Him, and that pleases and honors Him for the awesome God who He is. And as we gather, He gives us the divine strength of His grace and mercy that we need to mortify sin and to grow in holiness, so that our lives might be more and more pleasing to Him.

In worship, our faithful and merciful God speaks to us by His living, active Word to show us our sin and the ways in which we need to grow, and then assuring us of His forgiveness and pardon in Jesus Christ. As He speaks the sovereign love of Gospel truth to us, He strengthens our faith in Christ, forging and fostering a love for Him who has first loved us.

Our response is to offer sacrifices of praise to Him, and then to go back out into the world strengthened by His grace, in order to serve Him and live our whole lives as services of worship to Him.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” Romans 12:1–2

“… you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
